As we anticipated when a series of leaked photos of the new Leon SC (for a short period of Sports Coupe) hit the internet late last night, Seat, came out with the official details and images of the compact three-door hatchback, that is involved in the five-door model.


At first glance, this may seem like a Seat just removed the rear doors on a regular basis from Leon to create SC, but the Spaniards made several other important changes in the design of the car.

These include the extension of the front door, the redesign of the side windows, the more inclined the back by the glass (19 degrees) and the tailgate, and perhaps more significantly shortened wheelbase by 35mm (1.38 inches) according to Leon 5d.

"We have given, and the three-door Leon SC highly distinctive character - just delete the two doors would not be enough for us. This is why we opted for the short-wheelbase - although only 35 millimeters, the visual effect is very strong. As a result a big difference in the expression of dynamics," said Alejandro Serrano-Xii, the Head of the Seat Design.

The interior of the car, however, will remain unchanged, so does the engine line, it is also borrow five-door Leon.

When the new Leon SC on sale in Europe later this year, it will be offered with a choice of diesel (TDI) and oil (TSI) units feature, all direct injection and turbocharging.

The economic powerplant with a 1.6-liter TDI, equipped with the Start/Stop System and Energy Recovery, which has an average fuel consumption of 74.3 mpg UK, equal 3.8lt/100km, CO2 emissions, 99g/km.

The other engine options include 148hp (150PS) 2.0-liter TDI, 104hp (105PS) 1.2-liter TSI, 138hp (16V) 1.4-liter TSI and 178hp (180PS) 1.8-liter TSI. Later, the Seat will introduce high-performance Cupra and Cupra R models.

The world premiere of Leon SC will take place in 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March.
